Choosing My Next Game After Avowed

As I approach the end of Avowed, I’m already thinking about what game to dive into next. Lately, I’ve been really enjoying third-person gameplay, and I’ve narrowed my options down to three strong contenders:

  • Armored Core VI
  • Red Dead Redemption 2
  • Ghost Recon: Breakpoint (unfinished)

Each of these games offers exceptional shooting mechanics, though in different ways. Red Dead Redemption 2 leans toward realism, Armored Core VI delivers intense futuristic combat, and Breakpoint sits somewhere in between with its tactical military gameplay. In this post, I’ll break down my thoughts and decide where my next adventure will take place.

Breaking Down the Choices

I love games with realistic graphics and immersive gameplay, which is why Red Dead Redemption 2 has been on my radar for a long time. Its attention to detail, from the way characters move to the physics of gunfights, makes it one of the most immersive open-world experiences out there.

On the other hand, Armored Core VI brings a completely different vibe—high-speed mech battles, intense firepower, and a Souls-like challenge, but with guns. That’s something I’m definitely interested in. The game’s difficulty and unique combat mechanics make it a strong contender.

Then there’s Ghost Recon: Breakpoint. I initially enjoyed it, but over time, the sheer size of the map and the repetitive mission structure started to wear me down. While it offers great tactical gameplay, I found myself overwhelmed by the endless objectives and open-ended exploration. That’s probably why I never finished it.

The Final Decision

For now, I think I’ll take a longer break from Breakpoint and focus on choosing between Armored Core VI and Red Dead Redemption 2.

And honestly, the winner is clear.

I’ve been wanting to play Red Dead Redemption 2 for ages, and while Armored Core VI would be a fun challenge, I think it’s finally time to put on a cowboy hat and take on the Wild West.
